Long Prairie Woman Sentenced in Swindling Case

ST. CLOUD -- A Long Prairie woman has been sentenced to prison for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from her employer.

Stearns County District Court Judge Vicki Landwehr sentenced 44-year-old Sherry Anderson to 4 1/2 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Anderson stole over $533,000 from Minnesota Veterinary Associates in Melrose between July of 2010 and March of 2014 when she worked as an office assistant in accounts receivable.

Anderson was believed to have swindled nearly $760,000 since May of 2008, but a five-year statute of limitations allowed prosecutors to charge her with the $533,000.

In February, Anderson pleaded guilty to to five counts of theft by swindle.
