WRITING MUSIC ISN'T EASY

Writing clever lyrics for songs, and then creating melodies that last a lifetime is no easy task, but there are people out there who make songwriting look easy, and you have a chance to see one of the 2024 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame nominees perform this weekend at Pierz Freedom Fest.

DON'T MISS THIS GREAT SONGWRITER

On Saturday, July 19th, 2024 Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame Nominee Phil Vassar will be performing at the Pierz Freedom Fest, on the Genola Ballfield in Genola, Minnesota. The 54th Anniversary Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala will be held on November 6th at the Music City Center.

MEET PHIL VASSAR

Phil Vassar has to be one of my favorite artists. He writes songs, he plays piano, and he sings his rear-end off.

Phil Vassar is originally from Lynchburg, Virginia. While he was in college, he started playing piano and singing in local clubs. He decided to move to Nashville and in 1997 finally started getting some of his songs recorded. A popular group back in the day, Blackhawk, singer Skip Ewing, and a popular group in the 90s called The Sons of the Desert.

BIG HITS FOR OTHER STARS

In 1998, things started taking off for Phil. He had multiple songs other artists had recorded that started getting some major attention, including the number one hit by Jo Dee Messina, "Bye, Bye."

He then had a number one with "My Next Thirty Years," recorded by Tim McGraw. Phil was named the NSAI 1998 Songwriter of the Year.

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE

Finally, in 1999 Phil Vassar signed a record deal with Arista Nashville, who released his album of the same name the very next year, which was loaded with some of his original tunes, including "Carlene," "Six-Pack Summer," and his first number one hit as a solo artist, "Just Another Day In Paradise."

Since that time, Phil Vassar has received multiple songwriting awards.

He'll be performing at Pierz Freedom Fest on Saturday, July 20th. You can still get tickets by clicking HERE now.
