ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Gov. Mark Dayton has canceled a planned trip to view flood damage in southwestern Minnesota due to forecasts for more severe weather.

Dayton had planned to visit Luverne and Edgerton. Instead, his office says, the governor plans to speak with local officials Monday afternoon via telephone conference call.

Dayton's office says he also plans to travel to International Falls on Tuesday morning to meet with local officials and assess flood damage in Koochiching County.

Severe thunderstorms have already started popping up in southwestern Minnesota and the storm system is moving toward the northeast.
