Clark Leads 8th District Dems in Fundraising
ST. PAUL (AP) - Two Democrats running in a northeastern Minnesota primary are lagging in the money chase.
Former Rep. Rick Nolan had $93,000 as July began, while former Duluth City Councilor Jeff Anderson had $18,000. That compares with $259,000 for former state Sen. Tarryl Clark.
The primary winner will challenge Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack, who had almost $900,000 at the end of June.
In a southern Minnesota GOP primary, former state Rep. Allen Quist had $165,000 to spend after loaning his campaign $170,000 in June. State Sen. Mike Parry had $30,000 on hand. The winner will face Democratic Rep. Tim Walz, who had $808,000 as June ended.
In the 6th District, Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann used $80,000 from the nearly $2 million she raised for her congressional campaign to whittle down a nearly $1 million debt from her presidential campaign.
