CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital Named Among State’s Top Hospitals

U.S. News & World Report has released its annual list of Minnesota's Best Hospitals, and CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital is among the top hospitals in the state.

CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital was given a four star rating in Patient Experience. The hospital was honored as 'High Performing' in the fields of Orthopedics and Pulmonology.

CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital also ranked as 'High Performing' in several sub-categories including Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma treatments, colon cancer surgery, prostate cancer surgery, several heart procedures and treatments, maternity care, treatment of strokes, hip and knee replacement and pneumonia treatment.

CentraCare- St. Cloud Hospital ranked third overall in the state, behind first-place finisher Mayo Clinic and Abbott-Northwestern in Minneapolis.

The Best Hospitals rankings are broken into two subcomponents – specialty rankings and procedure and condition ratings. Hospitals are ranked from 1 to 50 in each specialty, with hospitals not in the top 50 but still in the top 10% of all rated hospitals receiving a designation of “high performing.

U.S. News estimates that nearly 2 million hospital inpatients a year face the prospect of surgery or special care that poses either unusual technical challenges or significantly heightened risk of death or harm because of age, physical condition or existing conditions. The rankings are a tool that can help these patients and their families find sources of skilled inpatient care.

The 15 Best Hospitals' national specialty rankings are updated annually. As noted, rankings in 12 of the 15 rely largely on objective data. Each specialty showcases the 50 top-scoring hospitals, based primarily on survival rates for particularly challenging patients, patient experience and other measures of performance that can be assessed using hard data. All evaluated hospitals and their results, including overall scores, are displayed online, but rankings are only displayed for the top 50.
