St. Cloud was the start of my radio career. It's where I spent more than half of the 1990’s. I owe my career to past and current radio stations here. My very first part-time and full-time radio jobs were at 104.7 back in the mid to late 1990's. My first radio internship was at 103.7 KISS FM in the Crossroads Mall in 1989. If you remember that station, you are an old school St. Cloud radio listener. I interned for the night jock Garett Michaels. Chad Brueske was the overnight jock and taught me about dj'ing high school dances and weddings My second internship was 5 years later at KDWB in Minneapolis. I owe as much to that station as any other People like Jon London, Dave Ryan, Tony Fly, Michael Knight, Rob Morris and everyone else who encouraged and taught me but more importantly were hard on me and pushing me to be better. I also DJ'd many clubs back in the day before I actually really got into radio. I was spinning those ol' school jams at Rock-Itz teen club downtown. It's a pawn shop now but back in 1990 it was an arcade downstairs and a dance club upstairs. I DJ'd for a bit at MC's Dugout back when they first opened. Also at First Street Station (currently Olde Brick House) and Grumpy's...which was way out where the new Tech HS is. Not many people came out there because it was soooo far out of town. My 25+ year part-time/full-time radio career has taken me to many places. St. Cloud to Minneapolis, back to St. Cloud, then to Fargo, back to Minneapolis, then back to Fargo, then to Colorado Springs for 10 years, then Las Vegas for a couple of years...and back to where it all started. Why you might ask? My family and I decided in the summer of 2018 that it was time to be close to our families again. That it would be nice if our children could see their grandparents more than once every few years. It was time to plant roots and stop this typical radio life where you never really settle anywhere. It was time to come home. We are so glad we did.
