ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis is asking a judge for permission to interview family members of a man who says he's a victim of sexual abuse by a priest.

The archdiocese is also asking Special Master Judge Robert Schumacher to order the man to have a psychological evaluation. A third motion to be heard Thursday asks the judge to determine what is "good cause" for releasing the names of priests accused of abusing children, but who have not been criminally charged.

Schumacher is a retired Minnesota Court of Appeals judge appointed to handle some of the legal battles involved in a lawsuit over how the archdiocese handles abusive priests. The lawsuit filed by John Doe 1 claims he was abused by Rev. Thomas Adamson even after the priest's sexual misconduct was known by the church.
