WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

If you own a Hyundai, you could be in for some power issues.

Hyundai is recalling approximately 55,000 vehicles for a fuel pump failure, causing loss of drive power, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

If you drive any of the following vehicles, you may want to continue to read on:

  • Genesis G70
  • Veloster N
  • Elantra N
  • Kona N

The Model years for these vehicles are from 2019 - 2023.

ISSUES

The fuel control valve in the high-pressure fuel pump could allow fuel to enter the fuel pump, which could cause a reduction or loss of motive power at low speeds.

This issue could increase the risk of a crash.

How will you know if this issue is starting to happen on your vehicle? NHTSA recall documents indicate, "MIL illumination, lack of power, and rough idle or misfire."

NOTIFICATIONS

Owners of these vehicles should expect to get a notification by mail before September 9th, 2024. Hyundai dealers will address this problem on your affected vehicle by installing an updated fuel control valve plunger design and providing your vehicle with revised engine ECM software.

At the time of this report, the company said that there were no confirmed crashes or injuries related to this issue in the US or Canada.
