ST. CLOUD - There's a lot of buzz about the new craft brewery being planned for downtown St. Cloud.

Co-owner of Beaver Island Brewing Company Nick Barth says when Bo Didley's announced plans to leave their location downtown, they knew that was the perfect location...

Barth says their focus will be on the beer, and they won't be serving any food. But, they would like to have live music...

He says the downtown has been a big part of his life since his dad and uncle opened the Veranda Lounge when he was in junior high...

Nick Barth, and the Barth family, own and operate "The Wine Shop", "Nick's 3rd Floor & D.B. Searles", "The Veranda Lounge", and "The Pioneer Place On Fifth". Barth says he will have to take a step back from those businesses, in order to get the brewery up and running...

Barth says the tap room will be just a small percentage of their business, and they plan to eventually sell their beer in bars throughout central Minnesota.

This will be the first brewery in St. Cloud since the St. Cloud Brewing Company closed their doors in 1939. The Beaver Island Brewing Company is scheduled to open in January.
