A man who authorities have called a person of interest in the 1989 abduction of a St. Joseph boy wants his trial on unrelated federal child pornography charges moved.

A man who authorities say is a person of interest in the 1989 abduction of Jacob Wetterling has pleaded not guilty to several federal child pornography charges. Fifty-two-year-old Danny Heinrich appeared in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis on Monday.

Wednesday, February 17th is Jacob Wetterling’s 38th birthday. Wetterling went missing from St. Joseph on October 22, 1989. His case remains open and unsolved. In a news release from the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center, Patty Wetterling writes that she's still praying for Jacob's safety and for answers.

A new lead investigator has been named for the Jacob Wettlering case. Stearns County Chief Deputy Bruce Bechtold is taking over after Captain Pam Jensen recently retired. Jensen led the Wetterling investigation for about 15 years.

Fifty-two-year-old Daniel James Heinrich was charged last week with possessing and receiving child pornography after authorities searched his Annandale home in July for evidence in the disappearance of Jacob Wetterling.
