Deputies in the Meeker County Sheriff's Office have traded in their traditional gold badges for ones that are hot pink. They'll be wearing the colorful badges throughout the month of October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The survival rates for women who are diagnosed with breast cancer continues to go up. Coborn Cancer Center spokeswoman Mary Weis says the 90-percent cure rate is due in large part to early detection. She says regular self breast examines, and an annual mammogram starting at the age of 40, are important.
