ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud City Council voted unanimously Monday to make improvements to Clearwater Road in St. Cloud.

It was moved by council member, George Hontos and seconded by council member, Nancy Gohman to go forward with the planned realignment of Clearwater Road and Heatherwood Road.

Plans for the realignment include adding a sidewalk, walking trail, sewer system, storm drain, curb, gutter and water main.

The project would cost just over $3.1 million. The city would assess about $1.9 million, and pay the remaining $1.2 million.

The plan was proposed back in 2005 but was put on hold due to the uncertainty of private developments in the area.

The current plan is the same as the previous proposal with minor price increases to the overall unit per foot.

Coborn's is currently looking to make the site their new corporate headquarters. Construction would likely begin sometime in the fall.
