ST. JOSEPH -- If you see thick smoke coming from the area near Kennedy School in St. Joseph, don't be alarmed. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and District 742 will be conducting a prescribed burn on 46 acres of prairie land near the school.

Depending on weather, the burn is scheduled for Thursday, but could be delayed if conditions are not favorable.

The burn will improve the prairie restoration and also reduce the fuel for wildfires.

If the burn is conducted Thursday, it will begin at about noon and be completed by about 2:00 p.m.
