After the news just last week that Country Manor is planning to bring a large senior living facility campus to St. Joseph, a second senior facility is being pitched to the city this week. In a letter to City Administrator Judy Weyrens, owner Tom Opatz is proposing a 45-unit senior living apartment building called "Fortitude Senior Living of St. Joseph".

St. Joseph is considering updating an ordinance that would ban biking and rollerblading on downtown sidewalks. The city says space is limited and narrow on the sidewalks. The ordinance would apply from 2nd Avenue Northwest to 1st Avenue Southeast.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new St. Joseph Government Center on Thursday morning. The more than18,000 square foot building will be just to the west of Colts Academy. The new Government Center will be a stand alone building with the potential to one day connect to Colts, which will eventually be converted into a community center.
