Five St. Cloud metro area mayors will be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army today (Thursday). The Mayor's Ring-A-Thon has a goal of raising $3,000, and an anonymous donor has agreed to match them up to another $3,000.
Last week we told you about Tiga Stevenson, a local woman attempting to set the world record for the longest amount of time ringing the Salvation Army's Red Kettle bell. She didn't set the world record, but she definitely met and exceeded her own goal.
Charitable donations to The Central Minnesota Community Foundation jumped 76% last year. In a report released today (Monday), they say they received $8.8 million in donations in the fiscal year that ended on June 30th.
