Unexpected Adventures In Pet-Sitting: A Soapy Situation Revealed

Recently, my friends decided to take a much-needed vacation, and I agreed to take on the duty of watching their pets while they were away.  Just the usual, check on the cats and dog, make sure their water was full, that they had food and basically just tidying up after the pets, so everything was clean for them when they returned, and that the pets had food, water and a nice clean environment while their people were away.

After feeding the cats, I decided that I was going to wash the cats dishes and went upstairs to wash them in the kitchen.

WHERE IS IT?

The thing is; I couldn't find the dishwashing liquid. There was an empty container on the counter, but nothing in it. So I used the next best thing. I saw on the counter, hand soap. (Hey, sometimes you just have to improvise right? _ As long as the dishes were cleaned and the germs were gone, in my book, all is right with the world.

After their return, they asked me how the pets were in their absence. It reminded me that I didn't know where to find the dish liquid. I immediately felt like an idiot when they said, "The dish soap is in the soap dispenser on the sink."  Well...of course it was!

NEVER AGAIN

I don't know about you, but I've had sinks with dish dispensers on one side; on both sides, and mostly recently, I have decided that I don't want a sink with a soap dispenser. They're always empty because they are such a headache to fill.

That leads me to the question at hand. Do people still buy sinks that have holes for soap dispensers on them? If you do, do you ACTUALLY use them? And...if someone helps you wash dishes that doesn't live with you, do they know where to find your dish soap?

Because I know me, I've learned that filling a soap dispenser is the last thing I want to do when I'm in a rush to get my dishes done and the rest of the house cleaned up.

USEFUL BUT A PAIN

It probably makes no sense that I DO fill up dispensers that sit on top of my bathroom and kitchen counters, but filling the one on the sink seems to be the hardest thing in the world. Honestly, it's probably not that big of a deal, but I always over fill it, and then I'm spending another 5 minutes cleaning up all the wasted soap I dispensed when trying to fill the sink container.
