
Twins, Nathan Escape With Win In Toronto
The Twins escaped Toronto Sunday with a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays to avoid a 3-game sweep. Joe Nathan recorded his first save of the season despite allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run in the 9th inning. Adam Lind grounded out to first base to end the game. Nick Blackburn started the game for the Twins and threw 5 2/3 innings with 6 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win. Both Denard Span and Danny Valencia hit solo homeruns for Minnesota and Tsuyoshi Nishioka and Matt Tolbert had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Minnesota is 1-2 this season and will begin a 4-game series at New York against the Yankees tonight at 6:05, pregame on WJON at 5:35. Righthander Scott Baker gets the start on the mound for Minnesota and righthander Ivan Nova toes the rubber for the Yankees.
