St. Cloud will have the compost site open both today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday). The compost site is located in the St. Cloud River Bluffs Regional Park in South St. Cloud.
Thousands are still without power this (Saturday) morning, after last night's storm. Xcel Energy spokeswoman Mary Sandok says they have over 12,000 customers without power stretching from the St. Cloud area down through southwest Minnesota. And East Central Energy has nearly 9,000 customers without power.
The sound of chainsaws will be a common one today (Saturday) as area residents continue to clean-up after last night's storm. Stearns County Emergency Management Director Marv Klug says the Hester Park neighborhood appears to have been hit the worst. There are hundreds of trees down in that area.
A storm packing straight-line winds approaching 80 mph has moved through Minnesota, leaving in its wake damaged homes and structures, toppled trees and several thousand blacked-out utility customers.
