St. Joseph officially has a new chief of police. Interim Chief Dwight Pfannenstein and City Administrator Judy Weyrens say they finalized the terms and conditions of his contract Thursday afternoon. He is the new police chief effective immediately.

Today (Thursday) is Joel Klein's first official day as the new top cop in St. Joseph. Klein replaces former Police Chief, Pete Jansky who announced his retirement earlier this year.

The City of St. Joseph is hosting a community meet and greet Tuesday with the three final candidates for police chief.

The St. Joseph police chief has been honored by the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association. They have given him their highest recognition award -- the Richard W. Schaller Award.
