An 11-year-old that captured the hearts of all Minnesotan's in 1989, is still loved and thought of. Although he may be gone, his presence and old jersey number still live on.
More details are being released about a community memorial service for Jacob Wetterling. The College of St. Benedict will host the event Sunday, September 25th at 10:00 a.m. The community is welcome to join the Wetterling family for an ecumenical prayer service of remembrance, hope and healing. The doors will open at 9:00 a.m.
For nearly 27-years he was considered by authorities as a 'person of interest' in the abduction of Jacob Wetterling. But now with the recent confession in court by Danny Heinrich, Dan Rassier's name has finally been cleared.
A farm about a mile east of Paynesville, along old Highway 23, is the place where Jacob Wetterling's remains were found last week, after nearly 27 years of search. Doug Voss of Paynesville says when authorities knocked on his door last week, saying they wanted to search his property, he didn't know what to think.

Search warrants related to the Jacob Wetterling abduction case were unsealed this (Friday) morning. One of the warrants was used in the digging search of the Rassier farm in St. Joseph in 2010.
Now that Jacob Wetterling's remains have been found, there's been a lot of interest in a 5K run that's been planned in his name. The Jacob Wetterling Resource Center has been organizing the event since early this year.
