The St. Cloud city council heard two hours of public testimony, during a public hearing this (Monday) evening, on a planned mosque, school and community center for the city's southside. At issue is a request by the Islamic Center of St. Cloud to amend a Planned Unit Development to allow the 34,000 square foot complex in a residential neighborhood just off Clearwater Road.

The plan to build a mosque in south St. Cloud goes to the city council this (Monday) evening. The Islamic Center of St. Cloud wants the city council to approve an amendment to a planned-unit development to allow a mosque, a religious education center, and a community center at 1850 Clearwater Road.

The St. Cloud Planning Commission approved a scaled back version of a planned mosque in South St. Cloud. The commission voted 4-2 to approve a Planned Unit Development request by the Islamic Center of St. Cloud.
