It was back on a warm summer day in August that Allegiant Airlines announced plans to offer regular flights between St. Cloud and Mesa, Arizona. This Saturday at 5:05 p.m. that first plane full of central Minnesotans will take off to the warm destination.

With regular daily flights at St. Cloud Airport starting in December, officials are making security changes to accommodate the commercial airline.

The big news this week is the announcement that Allegiant Airlines will be offering flights twice a week from the St. Cloud Regional Airport to the Phoenix/Mesa Gateway Airport.

Allegiant Airlines is coming to St. Cloud. While the airline is new to us, they're not new to the upper midwest. Allegiant is already offering regular flights out of Rochester, Duluth, Sioux Falls, Fargo, and Grand Forks.
