St. Cloud Municipal Band Summer Concerts

 The St. Cloud Municipal Band (SCMB) is proud to announce its Summer Concert Series theme and schedule for 2023 (see below for full schedule). The annual 4th of July concert, before the fireworks, at Hester Park will kick off the series. The band will start at 8:30 pm and play a great selection of marches, patriotic tunes, and medleys such as Stars and Stripes Forever, Amber Waves of Grain, and Highlights from the Music Man.

SCMB will have four performances in Barden Park. Each of the Barden Park shows has a unique theme. On July 13th it’s Marches and Musicals with songs like Sounds of Sousa, Phantom of the Opera, and Send in the Clowns. A Night at the Movies is the theme for July 27th with songs everyone is sure to know such as Mission Impossible Theme, Pirates of the Caribbean (Symphonic Suite), and Pixar Movie Magic. The final two performances are fun for the whole family with the August 3rd Kids Concert, and Under the Big Top (circus and animal-themed music) on August 17th

The show almost always goes on. Even though summer weather can be unpredictable, SCMB conductor Andy Nelson says the band tries not to cancel if at all possible, “we have a great group of performers who find ways to persevere in the wind, rain, heat, and cold. The band is very good at adapting to the conditions to allow the performances to be played as scheduled.” The SCMB has only had to cancel one time in the last 5 years due to weather. All the concerts are free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
