Additional Information

The American Indian Center at St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud School District, St. John’s & St. Ben’s and St. Cloud Technical and Community College are jointly hosting the 25th annual spring Powwow on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Admissions is free and open to the public. The event will be held at Apollo High School with grand entries at 1p.m. and 7p.m. A powwow is a traditional celebration of life for American Indians. Families gather to renew friendships through singing, dancing and spiritual bond. Although powwows have religious and patriotic significance which includes many symbols representing native life, it is also focusing on fellowship, feasting and honoring ceremonies. During the event, attendees will be able to experience American Indian dances, food, singing and drumming.

A variety of American Indian craftworks such as blankets, jewelry and beadworks will be available for purchase from vendors. The powwow will be attended by American Indian drum groups and dancers from across the Midwest area.

Date: April 13, 2019 • Location: Apollo High School • Time: 12p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with grand entries at 1p.m. and 7p.m.
