There’s an annual softball tournament that runs through Sunday, you can sit back and cheer on the teams. The tournament will be held at Big Lakes High School Softball Complex.

The annual festival parade will be held Saturday Morning at 11am. The parade route runs on Eagle Lake Road to Minnesota Avenue East ending at Independence Elementary.

Saturday and Sunday, the area will be filled with vendors offering their wares. Up to 40 vendors will be on hand with various items for sale including farmers' market items.

If you enjoy live entertainment, “Spud Fest” has you covered their too.

Friday night will feature “Good for Gary” covering a lot of your Top40 favorites.

Saturday’s lineup includes:

Dance Caravan of Otsego from 1-3

2 Mile Final starting at 8pm Saturday night with Country and Rock favorites that will get you moving.

Wrapping up the live entertainment on Sunday will be Ron Moshier, who is a two-time South Texas Entertainer of the year with a good mix of recognizable songs that will have the whole family singing along.

Also on Sunday, don’t miss the Potato Pancake Breakfast from 8 until Noon. This breakfast will feature potato pancakes with apple sauce, regular pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and Denver style eggs served with coffee, juice, and milk.

The cost of breakfast is $10, kids 12 & under eat for $7 as do all Veterans.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the carnival rides. These will be open Friday from 1pm-10pm, Saturday from Noon until 10pm, and Sunday Noon to 4pm.

I was talking to someone this week about checking out this event, and they said, “you know I’ve lived here basically all my life, and I can’t recall ever going to Big Lake”. If that sounds like you, this weekend would be a good time to rectify that.
