ST. CLOUD – Here’s a look back at our #1 story for 2013.

Twenty-four year old Mandy Matula went missing on May 1st this year. She was last seen that day leaving her Eden Prairie home with her ex-boyfriend David Roe.

Roe fatally shot himself in a police department parking lot the next day after he was called in for questioning about Matula’s disappearance.

Numerous searches were organized by community members and family members after Matula’s disappearance. Matula’s remains were found by a hiker on October 26th at Mississippi River Park. The park had been a focal point of the search for Matula throughout the year.

The remains were found with a ring she wore and a University of Minnesota piece of clothing. The clothing had the number 14 on it, which was Matula’s number on the softball team.

Over 850 people were expected to attend Matula’s funeral in November.
