The unemployment rate in the St. Cloud metro area dropped nearly a full percent last month. The latest numbers from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development have the April unemployment rate at 6.6% -- down from 7.5% in March.
Minnesota's unemployment rate fell to a seasonally adjusted 6.5 percent in April, down a tenth of a point. That's still well below the April's national rate of 9 percent.
The unemployment rate for the St. Cloud metro area stayed the same in February. The latest numbers released today (Friday) from the Minnesota Department Employment and Economic Development have our unemployment rate at 7.7% -- same as in January.
Minnesota's jobless rate fell to 6.7 percent in January, its lowest point since December 2008. Preliminary January unemployment figures released Wednesday by the Department of Employment and Economic Development showed an improvement over December's revised 6.9 percent rate.
The latest local unemployment figures indicate we're not out of the recession woods just yet. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says the unemployment rate for the St. Cloud Metro Area rose by a half-percent in December to 6.8%.
