River Bats Change Ownership; Team Name To Change

The St. Cloud River Bats as we know them will be no more. The St. Cloud Northwoods League team has changed ownership. Gary Posch and Joe Sexton have become the new owners of the team. They have bought the team from Joel Sutherland. Posch and Sexton are part-owners of the Willmar Stingers of the Northwoods League and own Brandl Motors together.

River Bats Ownership Change To Be Announced Wednesday

The Northwoods League announced that the change of ownership of the St. Cloud River Bats will be announced at a Press Conference at the St. Cloud Holiday Inn Wednesday at noon. Gary Posch is expected assume majority ownership of the team from Joel Sutherland. Sutherland has owned the team since they came to St. Cloud in 1997.

Posch To Become New River Bats Owner

Sauk Rapids businessman Gary Posch is expected to officially become the new owner of the St. Cloud River Bats within the next 2 days. That's according to sources close to the situation. Joel Sutherland has owned the River Bats since they came to St. Cloud in 1997. Posch is already a part owner of the Willmar Stingers in the Northwoods League.

River Bats To Change Ownership

Joel Sutherland is in the process of selling the St. Cloud River Bats of the Northwoods League. League President Dick Radatz Jr. confirmed Wednesday that the sale of the team could become official as early as the end of this week. St. Cloud City Administration Mike Williams says the River Bats are late on their annual payment to the city and owe the city $38,753. Williams says he's been assured by Radatz that the payment will be made by either the new owner or the Northwoods League.

Northwoods League Expands By 1

The Northwoods League announced Wednesday that they are expanding for the 2012 season. The Lakeshore Chinooks of Mequon, Wisconsin will join the league. Mequon is a northern suburb of Milwaukee and the Chinooks will play at the home of Concordia College.

River Bats Close Season With Win Over Brainerd

The St. Cloud River Bats defeated Brainerd 5-3 to close the season with a 33-37 overall record and a 20-19 record in the 2nd half of the season. Kyle Stiner was 2-4 with a run scored Sunday and Carlos Lopez drove in 2 runs for the Bats. Jeff Kelly threw a scoreless inning of relief to get the win.

River Bats Win 3rd Straight Against Moon Dogs

The River Bats won their 3rd straight game Friday night 3-1 over the Mankato Moon Dogs at Joe Faber Field. The Bats scored single runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th innings. Andy Henkemeyer, Jeremy Banks, C.J. Gillman, and Ronald Sucre each had 2 hits for St. Cloud. Andy Urban threw 8 1/3 innings with 4 hits and 1 run allowed to get the win for the Bats.

The St. Cloud River Bats beat Mankato 7-3 Thursday night at Joe Faber Field to get their 2nd straight win. Bryan Haar went 2-3 with a homerun and 3 RBIs, and Andy Henkemeyer went 3-5 with a run scored and 1 RBI for the Bats. Mike Iannazzo threw 5 innings with 6 hits and 2 earned runs allowed to get the win and Tadd Johansen threw the last 4 innings with 1 earned run allowed to earn the save.

The St. Cloud River Bats defeated Mankato 5-3 in 12 innings Wednesday night at Joe Faber Field. Bryan Haar hit a walk-off 2-run homerun to win the game for the Bats. Derek Campbell went 2-6 with 2 runs scored for the Bats. Andy Fagely threw 2 shutout innings in relief to get the win.

River Bats Blow Lead Late, Fall At Willmar

The St. Cloud River Bats have lost 3 straight games after falling 5-4 at Willmar Tuesday night. St. Cloud allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to fall to the Stingers. Bryan Haar had 2 hits, a homerun, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs to lead St. Cloud and Jeremy Banks added 3 hits and 2 RBIs for the Bats. Keenan Kolinsky allowed 6 hits and 1 earned run in 3 2/3 innings of relief to take the loss.
