Federal legislation to end furloughs of air traffic controllers, is also expected to help keep the control tower open in St. Cloud. The U.S. Senate acted quickly this week when the furloughs caused travel delays for millions.

Minnesota's two U.S. Senators signed on to legislation today (Tuesday) that would keep the air traffic control tower open in St. Cloud. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken joined 16 other senators for the bipartisan "Protect Our Skies Act".

The closure of the air traffic control tower in St. Cloud will be delayed till June.

The St. Cloud Regional Airport got the official word today (Friday) from the Federal Aviation Administration. The air traffic control tower will be closing, due to the federal sequestration.
