The Minnesota Department of Education will begin distributing a new guide for schools on dealing with transgender and gender non-conforming students.

Two area schools have received "reward" status from the Minnesota Department of Education for being in the top 15 percent of schools that receive Title 1 funding, which is allocated to schools with high levels of students in poverty. The rankings come with the release of the multiple measurement ratings (MMR).

The Minnesota Department of Education and its student testing contractor have reached a settlement over spring testing glitches. Pearson, the vendor, will take $1 million off its new three-year contract and add up to nearly $4.7 million in services to settle with the state.

The superintendent of the St. Cloud schools says his district is close to a settlement with the U.S. Department of Education that would end an investigation into the alleged harassment of Muslim students.
