Flooding Disrupts Amtrak Service Again

Flooding in Plains states is disrupting two Amtrak routes. Service on Amtrak's Empire Builder route between St. Paul, Minn., and Havre, Mont., -- including here in St. Cloud -- was suspended since June 21 because of flooding along the Souris River in North Dakota.

Pot Bust At St. Cloud Amtrak Station

The St. Cloud Metro Gang Strike Force and Drug Unit got a tip about a large amount of marijuana being smuggled in on an Amtrak train early this morning. Officers learned that a man was bringing the pot from Oregon and would be arriving in St. Cloud. Police arrived at the station just after midnight and arrested a 38-year-old man.

Amtrak Back On Track After Weekend Stoppage

Amtrak trains through St. Cloud are resuming their normal schedule after a weekend weather stoppage in Montana and North Dakota. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says the Empire Builder will return to normal operations Monday in both directions, with departures from Chicago, Seattle and Portland, Ore.
