St. Cloud Rotary To Sponsor Trolley During “Summertime By George”
ST. CLOUD — A downtown St. Cloud attraction that has been out of service since 2007 is coming back this summer.
The trolley that used to shuttle folks between Clemens Gardens and downtown will run as part of the “Summertime By George” concert series.
The St. Cloud Rotary Club will cover the $3,500 operating costs to shuttle people to and from Lake George on Wednesday evenings. St. Cloud Metropolitan Transit Commission spokesman Tom Cruikshank says the trolley will help ease parking constraints near the event.
The trolley went out of service after the Downtown Council withdrew its funding support as the recession set in. MTC officials are hoping other organizations will see the trolley in use and offer to help sponsor it fulltime in the summer months.
