SCSU Students to Host Event to Raise Awareness for Homelessness
ST. CLOUD -- A social work professor and her students are giving a voice to those who may not always be heard.
St. Cloud State University students along with the Student Social Work Association and United Way of Central Minnesota created an event, Voices of Homelessness to raise awareness for homelessness.
The event will feature a craft and artisan sale. The main feature will be a poster exhibit, created by students, sharing the stories of those who are or have been homeless in central Minnesota.
St. Cloud State Professor Sheila Moriarty says, "peoples stories are complex, it's not just the simple matter of someone not trying hard enough."
Moriarty says many who are or have been homeless have a lack of resources that many of us take for granted.
All proceeds go to benefit homelessness projects including Project Homeless Connect.
