SARTELL -- What started as a normal day at the gym last month quickly changed to a day three members will never forget.

Back on December 11th, Ernie Kociemba came into Fitness Evolution to play tennis just like any other day, but this time something didn't feel right.

Kociemba suffered a massive heart attack and was unresponsive shortly after 2:00 p.m.

Wright County Deputy Dusty Miller and Becker Police Officer Jonathon Batterberry were working out at the time of the incident.

Miller says he noticed staff running around when curiosity got the better of him.

Miller and Batterberry began administering aid until paramedics arrived to take Kociemba to St. Cloud hospital where he had three stints put in.

During tonight's (Monday) city council meeting Miller, Batterberry and five other members of law enforcement were presented with a Life Saving Award for their help that day.

Kociemba was in attendance during the presentation to thank the people that helped him.

Batterberry says while they were just doing their job it's nice to see Kociemba back on his feet.

Kociemba says the incident was an eye opener and he is thankful for everyone that helped save his life.
