December 4, 1917- July 22, 2016

 

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Jerome Habiger, age 98, of Freeport, will be at 10:30 AM on July 25, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Church in Freeport.  Fr. Dan Walz will officiate followed by a luncheon and then burial with military honors at Seven Dolors Cemetery in Albany.  Jerome died on Friday, July 22 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.  There will be a visitation before mass at 9:30 AM at the church in Freeport.

Jerome was born on Dec. 4, 1917 in Albany to Joseph and Elizabeth (Obermiller) Habiger.  He served in the Army during World War II as a general's driver and translator in the European Theater.  After serving in the Army, he became a lifelong farmer.  Jerome married Helene Sabrowsky on Sept. 6, 1952 in St. Paul.  The couple lived on their farm near Freeport.  Jerome loved the MN Twins and reading the St. Cloud Times each day.  He was a member of the St. Martin American Legion and Sacred Heart Church in Freeport.

Survivors include sisters-in-law Donna and Jill Sabrowsky, nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helene, siblings Joseph, Christine Moga, Mat Domke, Frank, Catherine Gretsch, Casey, George, Al, Lawrence, and Sally Schriver.
