ST. CLOUD - The Catholic Diocese of St. Cloud will be getting a new bishop tomorrow (Wednesday).

Bishop Donald Kettler will be installed as the ninth bishop of the diocese.  He'll officially become the bishop at solemn vespers - or evening prayers - at St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown St. Cloud at 7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.

A Mass of Installation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at St. Mary's.  That event is by invitation only.

Bishop Kettler will have a Blessing of the city of St. Cloud and Diocese of St. Cloud on the front steps of the church immediately following the Mass of Installation.

A reception for Bishop Kettler will follow the blessing until 6:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's church on 11th Avenue North in St. Cloud.

Pope Francis announced Kettler's appointment in September.

Kettler is taking over for Bishop John Kinney, who had led the Diocese since 1995.
