The Catholic Diocese of St. Cloud will be getting a new bishop tomorrow (Wednesday). Bishop Donald Kettler will be installed as the ninth bishop of the diocese.
The Catholic Diocese of St. Cloud is announcing a new Bishop this (Friday) morning. Bishop Donald Kettler of Fairbanks, Alaska will be introduced at a news conference has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Spokeswoman Jane Marrin says Kettler will start on November 7th.
Now that the Catholic Church has selected a new Pope, Bishop John Kinney of the St. Cloud Diocese has resumed planning for his retirement. Kinney sent in his letter of resignation when he turned 75 years old last June, which is required by the church.
Bishop John Kinney says Pope Benedict XVI's resignation this (Monday) morning came as a "complete surprise" to him. A Pope resigning hasn't happened in 600 years.
