COLD SPRING -- The Cold Spring City Council unanimously voted to approve the police chief contract with Chris Boucher at tonight's meeting.

The contract is effective now through June 2015. Boucher's contract term is contract for cause which means he’s not an at-will employee. His salary will be $74,921.60 per year. Boucher's benefits package will remain the same as it was in his previous role.

Cold Spring City Administrator Paul Hetland says Boucher's duties won't change.

Boucher previously served as their interim police chief  with the department when former chief Phil Jones retired last year.
At the beginning of the meeting the council went into a closed session to discuss a pending litigation with former police chief candidate Eric Johnson. Hetland says the city cannot comment on the issue at this time.
