Kevin Love led the Wolves with 27 points and 15 rebounds and Nikola Pekovic had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Minnesota. The Wolves trailed throughout the game and made it interesting in the 4th quarter. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 28 points.

The 37-year old Weems has been Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women's Administrator at Drake University since 2009 after being Associate Athletics Director at Denver University from 2002-2009.

The Rocori boys basketball team is headed to the Class 3A State tournament after beating Delano 52-49 in the Section 53A final Thursday night at St. Cloud State's Halenbeck Hall. Nate Meyer and Mac Mueller led a balanced Spartan attack with 11 points apiece and Sam Moriarty had 10 points for Rocori. The Spartans improve to 18-11 and go to the state tournament for the 13th time under head coach Bob Brink.

Ben Hanowski scored the lone SCSU goal in the 1st period to tie the game at 1 before North Dakota got the game-winner from Brock Nelson in the 2nd period. Mike Lee had 24 saves in net for the Huskies.

The Timberwolves are reportedly close to a 3-team trade that will send 6'10 power forward Michael Beasley to the Lakers and net them shooting guard Jamal Crawford from Portland. In the deal guard Steve Blake would go from Los Angeles to Portland. Crawford is a 31-year old 6'5 shooting guard who averages 14.2 points a game. He's an 11-year veteran.
