Bloomington Police: Man Kills Self In Standoff

BLOOMINGTON  (AP) -- Police in Bloomington say a 36-year-old man is dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a Christmas night standoff at his home.

Officers in the Minneapolis suburb responded to a report of a man threatening to harm himself shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday. Some other residents of the home got out but the man was inside for several more hours until officers heard a gunshot.

Police eventually entered the home and found the man dead. His identity has not been released. Stehlik says police had never been called to the home before.
