FOLEY --  Benton County will move forward with a major road construction project despite not having all of the funding in place.

Benton County Administrator Monty Headley says the Benton County Road 3 project also known as "3 Up the Hill" is a needed project that needs to move forward.

Headley says the board of commissioners has approved two resolutions to begin right-of-way acquisition along that corridor.

The cost for the project has nearly doubled to about $6,000,000.

The county was left out of the bonding bill this session and Headley says they may go back and ask for bonding again but could also consider other funding like a "wheelage tax" or half-cent sales tax money.
