A&W Restaurant Coming to Richmond

RICHMOND - An A&W restaurant is coming to Richmond later this year.

Julie Glenz is co-owner of the A&W in Albany and says they are breaking ground on the new location Friday.

"The construction will probably take about four months and we're looking at opening in the fall."

The new location will be at 780 1st Street Southeast.

Glenz says her family used to live in Richmond and loves the area.

"We like the community and they had contacted us to see if we would be interested in the possiblity of opening one there and things kind of just fell into place."

Glenz says they will hire around 20 people to staff the restaurant. The building is expected to seat around 60 people.

A&W is based in California and is known for its root beer floats, burgers, fries and hot dogs.
