WAITE PARK -- The Waite Park City Council gave their final approval to switch to a new recycle system Tuesday morning. The city will be working with West Central Sanitation of Willmar to give each resident a new 65-gallon recycling bin.

Public works director Bill Schluenz says residents can expect to have a new bin by September 1st.

The new bins will be nearly double the size and contain a covering. Schluenz this will help to prevent garbage from blowing out of the recycling bin.

Property owners will not see a bill for the new system. The utility will be paid for with using city taxes. The cost will run about 80 cents more per month for each bin which will bring the new cost to $15.20 per resident.

Schluenz says residents can choose to keep their old recycling bin for their own personal use or drop it off to be recycled at West Central Sanitation.
