The Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 9-6 Monday night and Jim Thome hit a pair of homeruns to get to 600 in his career.  Thome hit a 2-run homerun to get to 599 homeruns and then in the 7th inning Thome hit his 600th homerun off lefthander Daniel Schlereth with 2 runners on.  Thome had 5 RBIs on the night.  Thome is now just 1 of 8 players in Major League history to surpass 600 homeruns in a career.

Matt Tolbert had 3 hits and 1 run scored and Ben Revere was 2-5 with 2 RBIs for the Twins.  Francisco Liriano threw 6 innings with 5 earned runs allowed to get the win and Joe Nathan threw a scoreless 9th inning to grab his 10th save.  Delmon Young, playing in a Tigers uniform, had 2 hits including a homerun in his first Tiger at-bat off Liriano.

Minnesota will play at Detroit at 6:05 tonight, pregame on WJON at 5:35.  Righthander Nick Blackburn (7-9) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Justin Verlander (17-5) toes the rubber for the Tigers.  The Twins are 10 1/2 games back of Detroit for first place for the American League Central.
