The Twins have traded designated hitter Jim Thome to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later. Cleveland claimed Thome off trade waivers earlier this week and worked out a deal with the Twins Thursday. Thome began his career in Cleveland and spent 12 years there setting a franchise record with 334 homeruns. The Twins will chose from a short list of players as the player to be named later by October 15.

The White Sox or Cleveland Indians are believed to be the teams that claimed Thome and the White Sox, Indians, Yankees or Texas Rangers are believed to be the teams that claimed Kubel.
