Peterson Hearing Moved To September
Viking running back Adrian Peterson had his pretrial hearing in Houston, Texas moved to September 27. Prosecutors have agreed to push back the court date for Peterson to face a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge. The pretrial hearing as originally scheduled for July 13 and then moved to Monday. Attorney Rusty Hardin says hearings will now be held September 27 and November 15.

Nick Blackburn allowed 9 hits and 4 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss for Minnesota. Franklin Morales allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run in 6 innings to get the win for Boston. Ryan Doumit hit a 2-run homerun and Josh Willingham hit a solo homerun for the Twins. Ben Revere was 1-3 with 1 RBI to extend his hitting streak to 19 games.

The Vikings have lost receiver Greg Childs for the season after he suffered a torn patella tendon in both knees Saturday night in a scrimmage at Minnesota State-Mankato. Childs season is over and career is in jeopardy. The 6'3 receiver ran a 4.39 40 at the combine but had a injury history in college at Arkansas. He was taken in the 4th round by the Vikings in the April draft.

Joe Mauer hit a 3-run homerun in the 9th inning off Boston closer Alfredo Aceves to lift the Twins to a 6-4 win over the Red Sox Saturday night. Minnesota score 4 runs off Aceves in the 9th inning. Ben Revere was 3-5 with a run scored and Jamie Carroll was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI for the Twins. Cole DeVries threw 7 innings with 4 hits and 2 earned runs allowed. Alex Burnett earned the win in relief and Jared Burton threw a scoreless 9th inning for the save.

Melrose native Amanda Smock finished 27th in the London Summer Olympic qualification round and she does not advance to the next round. Smock is the lone American that qualified for the triple-jump at the Summer games.
