The Minnesota Senate has passed a bill to rename a portion of State Highway 23 after slain Cold Spring police officer Tom Decker. The bill passed unanimously by the Senate on Thursday is meant to honor Decker, who was shot and killed on a call in downtown Cold Spring last November.
A Cold Spring police officer killed in the line of duty could soon be remembered with a stretch of highway named in his honor. A state House committee planned Tuesday to consider a bill to designate portions of Highway 23 in central Minnesota the "Officer Tom Decker Memorial Highway."
