The argument over taxes and spending at Minnesota's Capitol this year spilled out in a contentious committee hearing as Democrats and their allies demanded higher state taxes to help fix a budget deficit while Republicans who want more spending cuts beat up on Gov. Mark Dayton's proposed income tax hike.
More people are filing their taxes online than ever before, prompting the IRS to reduce the number of paper income tax forms that they print. As a result, some people who are used to getting those forms from the Library are getting frustrated with Library staff because the forms they want are not readily available.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue says a computer glitch is responsible for delaying tax refunds for thousands of Minnesotans who filed electronically. At least 9,000 taxpayers expected to see their refunds depositing directly into their bank accounts. But, that didn't happen. Instead a paper check was generated and sent through the mail.
