Honors For Johnnies, Huskies and Gophers
St. John's senior kicker Jimmie Mattson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin is the MIAC football special teams player of the week. He was 3-3 on field goals and made his lone extra point try in St. John's 27-22 loss at Bethel Saturday. Mattson made a season best 49-yard field to tie the game at 3 in the first half. St. John's finished their season with a 5-5 overall record.
Bethel Top St. John’s 27-22 to Close Season
The St. John's football team ended the season with a 27-22 loss at Bethel on Saturday afternoon. St. John's trailed 17-13 at halftime and never led in the game. Connor Bruns threw for 258 yards and 1 touchdown. Rob Voshell had 3 catches for 29 yards and a touchdown and Josh Bungum led the Johnnies with 7 catches for 84 yards. Harry Awe had a rushing touchdown for St. John's Stephen Johnson led the team with 32 yards rushing.

The St. John's football team closes the 2012 season at Bethel Saturday at 1pm. The Johnnies have won 3 games in a row and are 5-4 overall and 3-4 in the MIAC. St. John's is coming off a blowout win over Hamline 55-10 last Saturday. St. John's Offensive Coordinator Jim Gagliardi talked with Jay Caldwell on the Granite City Cafe on AM 1390-the Fan.
Johnnies Rout Hamline 55-10
St. John's won their 3rd straight game with a 55-10 win at Hamline Saturday. St. John's led 24-3 at halftime and cruised in the 2nd half. Connor Bruns returned to the lineup and threw for 145 yards and 1 touchdown, Nick Martin threw for 54 yards and 1 touchdown for the Johnnies. Harry Awe ran for 54 yards and 1 touchdown and Jake Essler ran for 20 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Johnnies.
Honors For St. John’s, St. Ben’s Athletes
St. John's linebacker Maze Thompson of Shoreview is this week's MIAC Defensive Player of the Week. The Saint John's football team came from behind Saturday to beat Gustavus, 31-17, as the Johnnie defense allowed only a single field goal after halftime.
Thompson finished 12 total tackles - nine solo - which led the Johnnies in Saturday's win over the Gusties.
