St. Cloud State Hockey

The Western Collegiate Hockey Conference has thrown out an invitation to 5 schools in the CCHA to join the conference starting in 2013-2014. The WCHA has invited Alaska-Fairbanks, Bowling Green, Ferris State, Lake Superior State and Western Michigan. The leaders of the WCHA and CCHA met in Chicago last week and the CCHA has 30 days to decide whether to make the move.

Former St. Cloud State goaltender Dan Dunn signed a pro contract with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League. The 6'4 200 pound Dunn finishes his career at SCSU with a 20-15-6 record over 4 seasons. Dunn was a 3rd team all WCHA during the 2009-2010 season.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Wisconsin with a 7-3 win Saturday night. SCSU stayed alive for a possible bid for home ice advantage in the first round of the WCHA playoffs. The Huskies are 14-15-5 overall and 10-12-4 in the WCHA. Garrett Roe and Aaron Marvin each scored 2 goals for the Huskies and Jared Festler added 3 assists for SCSU.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team lost at home to #2 North Dakota 3-2 Saturday night. Brett Barta and David Eddy each scored a goal for the Huskies and Mike Lee had 29 saves. Brett Hextall scored the game-winning goal for North Dakota in the 3rd period. UND takes 3 of 4 possible points in the weekend series.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team earned a 3-all tie with #2 North Dakota Friday night. SCSU trailed 2-0 before mounting the comeback. David Eddy, Drew LeBlanc and Ben Hanowski each scored a goal for the Huskies and Mike Lee had 31 saves.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team ended their 3-game losing streak with an 8-2 upset win over #3 MN-Duluth Friday night in Duluth. The eight goals for the Huskies the most they scored since March of 2006. Ben Hanowski scored 2 goals and added 1 assist, Jared Festler added a goal and an assist and Garrett Roe had 3 assists.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team lost 6-2 Saturday night at home against Minnesota State-Mankato and the Huskies settle for just 1 point in the weekend series. The two team tied Friday night. Mankato led 4-0 after 2 periods and held on in the 3rd. Aaron Marvin and Cam Reed each scored a goal for the Huskies.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team defeated Michigan Tech 3-0 Friday night. SCSU got goals from Jared Festler, Ben Hanowski and Cam Reid and Garrett Roe added 2 assists for the Huskies.
